The eight participating teams are divided into two groups:
Group A: Kuwait, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar.
Group B: Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen.
Saudi Arabia will kick off their campaign on Sunday against Bahrain at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. They will face Yemen three days later at Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Stadium. The Green Falcons will conclude their group stage games on December 28th against Iraq at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
Kuwait reigns supreme as the most successful nation in Gulf Cup history with ten titles. Iraq follows with four, while Saudi Arabia and Qatar have each claimed three championships. The Green Falcons clinched their titles in 1994, 2002, and 2003-04 and are eager to add a fourth to their illustrious record.
Saudi Arabia’s Road to Glory
Renard, having returned to the helm in October, has assembled a formidable squad. Key players like goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais and forward Salem Al-Dawsari will spearhead the attack. The return of striker Firas Al-Buraikan and defender Hassan Tambakti has significantly bolstered the team’s morale and attacking prowess.
However, the team face minor injury concerns, as midfielder Abdullah Al-Khaibari is undergoing individual training to regain full fitness. Defender Ali Al-Bulaihi recently missed training due to muscle pain, while Sultan Al-Ghannam is recovering from a cold.
