The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, has discussed the Israeli aggression against Gaza and its devastating impacts on the Palestinians with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the 33rd Arab Summit.
Aboul-Gheit has revealed in his “X” account a joint meeting with Guterres and the Director-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini during the current Arab Summit held in the Bahraini capital, Manama.
The participants underscored the pivotal role of the UNRWA in alleviating the devastating impacts of Gaza War and protecting the innocent victims during the war.
The meeting tackled the ongoing conflict in Sudan that led to various miserable living conditions including limited access to healthcare services, forced displacement, and food insecurity.
The current Summit will delve into the current events in the Red Sea, the threat to navigation in the Arabian Gulf, the border problems between Djibouti and Eritrea, the bloody conflict in Sudan, and several other Arab countries will also be on the agenda.
It is noteworthy that this is the first time for the Kingdom of Bahrain to host the Arab Summit. The Bahraini government has ramped up preparations to ensure the success of the summit presided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The preparatory committee, led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, has held various meetings and round the clock field follow-ups to demonstrates Bahrain’s approach to fostering Arab unity and joint action.
Moreover, the summit’s media centre has conducted its preparations to facilitate the work of media professionals, by providing them with all necessary logistical and technical services.
