Saudi Foreign Minister Arrives in Bahrain for the Arab Summit

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah arrived yesterday at Bahrain International Airport to prepare for the Arab Summit, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani has warmly welcomed Prince Faisal who is participating in the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers.

Today’s meeting will address draft resolutions for submission to Arab leaders during the summit.

Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, has recently stated that the summit will be held amid unusual circumstances due to Gaza War.

However, Zaki expressed his confidence on the upcoming summit, highlighting that the session primarily aims to determine a strong response against the latest developments in the Strip.

The summit will also delve into recent developments in Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Lebanon, Comoros, and Yemen, alongside initiatives fostering Arab national security and countering terrorism.

Zaki stressed that the Palestinian Cause will be the center of attention and discussions, confirming that the Arab League is closely monitoring the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza and its latest movements towards the West Bank.

“The Summit will express strong Arab support for Palestinian rights and call on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities toward them, which are crucial for all Palestinians,” Zaki announced.

During a meeting in Cairo last March, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares have exchanged views revolving around the idea of holding an international peace conference, aiming for a two-state solution and a recognition of the Palestinian State.

Furthermore, Aboul Gheit highlighted that Arab-European cooperation is an integral part for this conference to take place and for putting an end to the Israel-Palestine Conflict.
