Arab, Regional Leaders Offer Condolences to Saudi Arabia after Aramco Helicopter Crash

Arab and regional leaders, governments and organizations have expressed condolences and solidarity with Saudi Arabia following the crash of a Saudi Aramco helicopter in Ras Tanura that killed all 14 people on board, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy said the helicopter crashed at about 6 a.m. local time on Sunday. All 14 passengers were Saudi nationals. The cause of the crash remains unknown, and authorities have launched an investigation.

Condolence messages were sent to King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi government and the families of the victims from across the Arab world.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed the organization’s condolences and reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi also conveyed condolences to the Saudi leadership and people, saying the GCC stood with the Kingdom following the tragedy.

Muslim World League Secretary-General Mohammed Al-Issa expressed sorrow over the crash and offered condolences to the victims’ families and the Saudi people.

Saudi: Arab, Gulf states send condolences after Aramco helicopter crash

Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah sent messages of condolence to King Salman. Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also sent similar messages.

Aramco Helicopter Crash

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah spoke by phone with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to convey his condolences over the victims.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II also expressed sympathy to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Governments across the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Mauritania and the State of Palestine, issued statements expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry said the country stood in full solidarity with the Kingdom following the tragedy, while Jordan’s Foreign Ministry extended condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia.
