Al-Ula Palm Farms Boost Economy with100K Tons in Annual Revenue

The palm farms in AlUla Governorate are currently witnessing the harvest season of various types of dates, with the Barni variety being the most prominent.

In addition to other varieties that differ in shape and size, this harvest represents another economic resource that adds to the region’s distinction, alongside its notable tourism potential.

AlUla’s farms, among the Kingdom’s largest date-producing areas, hold an annual celebration from August 15 to October 30. Covering around 16,579.40 hectares, these palm farms are home to approximately 3.116 million palm trees, yielding over 116,055.81 tons of dates each year.

This event not only showcases the region’s rich agricultural heritage but also attracts visitors from across the globe. The festival  also plays a vital role in promoting local products and supporting the livelihoods of the farmers who have nurtured these palm groves for generations.

The region’s dates are renowned for their quality and taste due to fertile soil and abundant fresh water. Furthermore, the Royal Commission for AlUla supports farmers by encouraging agricultural growth and helping market their products through events, festivals, and various platforms that attract many citizens and tourists.
