Supervisor-general of the Saudi aid agency KSrelief, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, has participated in the high-level event “Building a Better World Together: The Future of Humanitarian Action” in New York, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Al-Rabeeah stated that the main objective of this event is to deeply explore the challenges and opportunities to further boost the future of humanitarian work.
“At this important event, we aim to join our efforts and resolve to align global humanitarian action with the core principles of the UN Charter and the Sustainable Development Goals,” Al-Rabeeah added.
Main Challenges
The Supervisor also discussed the unprecedented challenges and crises that can hinder the humanitarian work, such as: violations of international humanitarian law, displacement, conflicts, and natural disasters.
Such conditions require effective mechanisms to alleviate the increasing pressure on the humanitarian aid delivery system.
Moreover, he stressed KSrelief’s commitment to boosting current and future humanitarian initiatives. The Center has implemented over 3,000 projects in 102 countries, costing $7 billion, in partnership with 192 humanitarian organizations since its establishment in 2015.
“We are aware that achieving successful future outcomes requires the implementation of sustainable solutions through innovative and proactive measures, as well as a commitment to accountability to affected populations,” Al-Rabeeah said.
Significant Approaches
Al-Rabeeah considered the event as an opportunity to share prospectives about how multilateral approaches can respond to these challenges and strengthen joint efforts to build a better world.
That is why KSrelief is dedicated to applying the nexus approach between humanitarian work, development and peace in its humanitarian efforts.
“By working hand in hand, we can alleviate human suffering, empower communities, address the root causes of crises, and promote respect for international humanitarian law and humanitarian principles, ensuring equal opportunities for all and fostering hope for a better world,” he added.
