Al-Jubeir: We Will Continue to Work with US to Confront Common Enemies
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Member of the Saudi Cabinet, Adel Al-Jubeir, declared that “US President Joe Biden’s speech was historic.” “He affirmed the US’s commitment to working with friends and allies to resolve conflicts and deal with challenges,” he said in a series of tweets.
“We look forward to working with our friends in the US to end conflicts and meet challenges, as we have done for more than seven decades,” he added.
He explained: “Saudi Arabia and the US made sacrifices in liberating Kuwait , fighting Al Qaeda, including in Yemen and ISIS in Syria, and we will continue to stand together to confront our common enemies.”
Addressing threats
Noteworthy, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed Biden’s speech, in which he stressed the commitment of the US to cooperate with the Kingdom to defend its sovereignty and confront the threats against it. He said, “We will seek to strengthen cooperation with the US to protect our common interests, and confront extremism and terrorism.”
A comprehensive political solution to the Yemen crisis
In a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency, He stated that he “welcomes the US’s affirmation of the importance of supporting diplomatic efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis, including the efforts of UN envoy Martin Griffiths.”
He added that “in this context it has taken a number of important steps to enhance opportunities for progress on the political track, including the fact that the coalition declared a unilateral ceasefire in response to the invitation of the United Nations Secretary-General.”
Saudi Arabia stressed her aspiration to work with the Biden administration, with the US envoy to Yemen Tim Lenderking, the United Nations and all Yemeni parties and the coalition countries, in order to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen, based on Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf initiative and the outcomes of the Yemeni national dialogue.
Promote cooperation and coordination
Saudi Arabia will continue its remarkable efforts to alleviate the human suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people, as the aid it has provided in this regard to the brothers in Yemen has reached more than $17 billion during the past few years.
“the Kingdom looks forward to continuing and strengthening cooperation and coordination with the US to deal with challenges in the region, including pushing the peace process in the Middle East, resolving conflicts, supporting stability in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa and the countries of the Sahel, and confronting extremism and terrorism.” Al-Jubeir added.
