The AlUla governorate is distinguished by its agriculture and abundance of crops, reported Saudi Press Agency. Agriculture in AlUla plays a key role in economic development, making it one of the most important sectors.

Agriculture in KSA Benefits Whole Kingdom

Saudi Arabia has benefited from agriculture due to the contribution of these farms in supplying the local population and other areas with a variety of products. The Agriculture Center at the Royal Commission of AlUla explained that the governorate serves as a food basket for the neighboring areas.

The products are not only supplied to the markets of the governorate but also supplied to surrounding markets, such as Medina, Jeddah, Tabuk, Hail, and Riyadh, in addition to its specialized markets and its annual festivals and events. These events attract many citizens, residents, and tourists from different countries of the world.

Crops Produced in AlUla

Agriculture in AlUla is characterized by its diversity due to its suitable climate and fertile soil. Some of the most prominent crops include dates, citrus fruits, mangoes, grapes, pomegranates, figs, barley and various types of corn. Moreover, it produces tomatoes, eggplants, okra, onions, peppers, leafy vegetables, legumes, and other types.

The governorate’s annual fruit production is estimated at 26 million tons, over an area of more than 12 million hectares. Its grain production is estimated at more than 800 tons, over an area of more than 400 hectares. Fodder occupies an area exceeding 200,000 hectares with a production estimated at more than 4 million tons.
