According to local reports, a massive explosion shook Ataq Airport, the seat of Shabwa Governorate in eastern Yemen, last week.
A powerful explosion happened at Ataq Airport, only hours after an Arab coalition military force commanded by Saudi Arabia landed.
According to the “Al-Masirah” website of the Houthi militia “Ansar Allah,” “reports of an explosion in the city of Ataq in Shabwa governorate, the causes of which are unknown as of now.”
It is worth noting that the government troops have dispatched considerable forces to Shabwa in recent hours.
Local accounts indicated that a massive explosion targeting Ataq airport in Shabwa governorate may have been triggered by a Houthi militia missile or drone.
There was damage as a consequence of the hit at the gate and the airport hall, but no injuries have been reported thus far.
This comes after the Giants’ troops got to various areas near Ataq city, including the airport, a few hours earlier.
The residents of Shabwa rushed out to meet the soldiers of the Southern Giants Brigades, who were able to evict the Brotherhood’s Islah party militias from the city while continuing to free the whole governorate.
The Southern Giants Brigades increased their grip over Mayfa’a, the first district of Shabwa Governorate in Yemen’s southeast, on Tuesday, threatening the power of the Brotherhood’s arm, the Islah party.
The Southern Giants’ troops began to deploy in Azzan, the center of the Mayfa’a district near the Abyan governorate, adding that this deployment forced soldiers of the Second Brigade, the Mountain Infantry of Islah, stationed in the region to leave.
