Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, stated that Tehran has signaled its willingness to negotiate with Washington as long as talks are grounded in “mutual respect and interests,” according to Reuters.
Araqchi also underscored that Iran is ready for war if the United States chooses confrontation.
During a press conference in Beirut, Araqchi noted that his visit to Lebanon aimed at addressing what he described as Israel’s “challenges and threats” to regional security.
Meanwhile, the visit sought to explore ways of expanding bilateral ties between both nations.
Araqchi’s visit came after Lebanon’s Foreign Minister, Youssef Raji, turned down an invitation to visit the Islamic Republic last month.
Instead, he proposed that any dialogue between the two nations should take place in a neutral, third country mutually agreed upon.
Raji explained that “current conditions” are the main reason behind his decline to visit Iran, though he offered no further details.
