
In Brussels, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi held talks with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola. During the meeting, Albudaiwi expressed his gratitude for the European Parliament’s supportive position toward GCC nations, particularly during these challenging times, emphasizing its commitment to upholding international law.
Discussions focused on recent regional and global developments, including the impact of Iranian attacks on GCC countries. These incidents were highlighted as a serious threat to regional security and stability, as well as to international maritime safety and global energy supplies.
Metsola reaffirmed the European Parliament’s backing of GCC countries in addressing these challenges. Both sides also examined a GCC proposal to establish a parliamentary cooperation framework between GCC legislative bodies and the European Parliament, aimed at strengthening dialogue, coordination, legislative collaboration, and institutional capacity to deepen relations.
