The Kingdom also expressed its hope that this important step would lead to urgent efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, ensure the complete Israeli withdrawal, restore security and stability, and begin practical steps toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution — establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital — in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the New York Statement on a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution.
