
Fahad Alshathri, Chief Executive of the General Authority for Competition (GAC), chaired a plenary session titled “Competition and Regulation in the Digital Sphere” at the 2025 Lear Competition Festival (LCF) in Rome.
The session examined the challenges and opportunities of competition in the digital economy, focusing on methods to assess market concentration and strengthen compliance programs. Participants also discussed the use of smart technologies to detect anti-competitive practices and explored ways to measure the economic impact of regulatory interventions—efforts aimed at shaping policies that promote fair and sustainable competition.

GAC’s participation reflects the Authority’s institutional maturity and growing expertise, while underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing the global dialogue on the future of competition regulation. It further highlights Saudi Arabia’s active role in setting international standards for fair competition, reaffirming its position as a leading economic power and trusted global reference in economic regulation.
