The Prime Minister of Djibouti, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, received on Thursday the Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed Al-Khuraiji, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The reception ceremony took place in the Prime Minister’s office at the Ministerial Complex of Djibouti.

At the beginning of their meeting, Al-Khuraiji conveyed the greetings of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, to the Prime Minister of Djibouti.
After that, both officials discussed bilateral relations and topics of common interest. The Saudi Ambassador to Djibouti, Faisal Al-Qabbani, attended the meeting.

Also on Thursday, Al-Khuraiji met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Djibouti, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf. They discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
The Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs arrived Wednesday in Djibouti to participate in the second consultative meeting on enhancing coordination of peace initiatives and efforts in Sudan.
In his speech, Al-Khuraiji stressed Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis. He also emphasized the Kingdom’s welcome and openness to international efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Sudan.

Furthermore, Al-Khuraiji renewed the Kingdom’s keenness to restore security and stability to Sudan and urged the Sudanese parties to prioritize wisdom and self-restraint and to show flexibility and respond to positive and humanitarian initiatives.
Meanwhile, the US has invited the Sudanese warring parties to participate in ceasefire talks mediated by the US, and co-hosted by Saudi Arabia. The talks will start on August 14, 2024 in Switzerland.
The aim of the talks is to “reach a nationwide cessation of violence, enabling humanitarian access to all those in need, and develop a robust monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure implementation of any agreement,” according to a statement by the US State Department.
