Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission Holds Meeting with Philosophy Enthusiasts

The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission held a virtual open meeting with specialists and  philosophy enthusiasts  to listen to their opinions about the challenges facing this sector and to identify the obstacles it encounters.

The commission aims to address these obstacles and develop them through the Authority’s targets and initiatives.

The contributions of the attendees varied with rich theses aiming at the growth of philosophical activities. Philosophy enthusiasts had several opinions.

Some attendees believed in the importance of integrating philosophy into individuals’ daily lives due to its notable role in posing questions correctly and appropriately.

Others pointed out the necessity of developing a philosophical approach derived from the thoughts, values, and heritage of the community.

Participants believe that philosophy can be harnessed to become nationally beneficial, as it is effective in addressing many intellectual and humanitarian issues. Philosophers are inherently developmental and concerned with serving their environment. Discussions also focused on the gap caused by the academic absence of philosophy, which has led to a lack of specialized local expertise.

Additionally, some views claimed that certain philosophical concepts have multiple terms and definitions, causing problems in understanding and explaining them. They expressed hope for a philosophical atlas to support cultural activities in the Kingdom.

The meeting included praise from the attendees for the international philosophy conference held by the Authority in its second edition.

This virtual meeting is part of a series of regular meetings that the  Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission organizes. These meetings aim to engage experts and interested parties, as well as to hear their proposals and visions.
