In preparation for the FIFA Club World Cup 2023, FIFA has inspected several Saudi Arabian stadiums. Scheduled from December 12th to 22nd, the competition promises to be a spectacle.
Inspection Details:
Saudi newspaper “Al Riyadiyah” detailed the FIFA team’s examination of the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah. This ensures all requirements, set during a June visit, are met.
Stakeholder Discussions:
The delegation met with Domingo Suarez, CEO of Al Ittihad Club Company. They discussed team sponsorships, training fields, and accommodation arrangements for the club’s participation.
Stadium Enhancements:
On a prior visit, FIFA proposed constructing a fan zone near the “Jewel” stadium, incorporating giant TV screens, replacing existing entry gates with barcode-equipped ones, and modifying media areas.
Upcoming Matches:
Al Ahly Club awaits to challenge the winner of the Al Ittihad Jeddah vs Auckland City game on December 15th in the second round of the World Cup.
These steps signify Saudi Arabia’s commitment to hosting a seamless and impressive Club World Cup event this year.
Notably, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman has officially declared the Kingdom’s candidacy to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. This statement came in a report by the Saudi Press Agency.
He stated that Saudi Arabia’s aspiration to host the World Cup in 2034 is a reflection of the comprehensive progress achieved across various sectors and at all levels. He emphasized the nation’s possession of the necessary economic resources, cultural heritage, and a rich cultural history. Such progress makes the Kingdom a compelling candidate for hosting the prestigious global event.
This announcement follows the recent decision by the international governing body of football, FIFA, to accept the joint bid from Morocco, Portugal, and Spain to host the 2030 World Cup. This joint bid became the sole contender for hosting the tournament, bolstering the prospects of Saudi Arabia’s bid for the 2034 edition.
