Saudi Crown Prince, French President Discuss Security, Bilateral Cooperation

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and French President Emmanuel Macron spoke by phone on Sunday to discuss diplomatic initiatives aimed at enhancing regional security and stability.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two leaders also reviewed ongoing efforts to safeguard maritime security and maintain freedom of navigation.
The call covered areas of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and France, in addition to several regional and international issues of shared interest.
Although Washington and Tehran reached a ceasefire agreement in April, shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has remained disrupted for more than 90 days following US and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28.
Last month, France and the United Kingdom invited military officials and ministers from 40 countries to participate in a Multinational Military Mission focused on clearing mines in the strategic energy corridor and restoring maritime routes for oil and gas shipments.
