Zelenskiy Arrives in Istanbul for “Substantive” Security Talks with Erdogan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in Istanbul on Saturday to hold “substantive” discussions on security matters with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, according to Reuters.
Zelenskiy said that the talks seek to ensure the real protection of lives, foster enduring stability, and uphold security across Europe and the Middle East.
Ukraine has recently signed security cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, and says it is engaged in talks with several other Middle Eastern states to pursue similar deals.
Ukraine, after the outbreak of war in the Middle East, has sought to leverage the counter-drone expertise it developed over four years of conflict with Russia.
A spokesperson for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he is set to meet Patriarch Bartholomew, the most senior cleric in the Orthodox Church.
