Iran’s Death Toll Tops 1,900 Amid Ongoing US-Israeli Attacks

US and Israeli attacks against Iran have killed over 1,900 people and wounded at least 20,000 others since the beginning of the conflict, said Maria Martinez of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent ‌Societies (IFRC) ‌on Friday.

Martinez noted the Iranian Red Crescent remains the only nationwide humanitarian organization operating across Iran amid the current escalating tensions, according to Arab News.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, targeting its leadership and triggering a new conflict in the Middle East.

Iran has been responding with a retaliatory counterattack in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi as a retaliatory move, while launching barrages of missiles and drones toward Israel.

One of the US-Israel strikes had killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, raising critical questions concerning Iran’s future. Other attacks have killed senior officials and destroyed significant facilities in the country.

A brief military statement said Israeli forces had completed a broad wave of strikes on infrastructure belonging to what it described as the “Iranian terror regime” in the heart of Tehran.

In a separate statement, the military also said it had targeted production facilities for ballistic missiles and air defense systems across Iran.

On Thursday, Israel said it had “blown up and eliminated” Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, as well as numerous senior officers.

US President Donald Trump has in recent days repeatedly claimed that talks with Iran are achieving progress. However, Tehran has insisted that no formal talks are underway.
