$30 Million as a Contribution from Alwaleed Philanthropies to Combat the Coronavirus

As an initiative from the global philanthropic foundation, Alwaleed Philanthropies, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, the chairman of the foundation, has allocated $ 30 Million to support the kingdom’s efforts against the pandemic.

The foundation is going to cooperate with several partners to tackle different consequence topics of the pandemic. The two main issues are manufacturing rapid diagnostic tests for developing countries and reducing the long-term impact of the potential economic fallout of the contagion.

The supportive projects will exceed the MENA region to the UN-Habitat to expand the facilities of water, sanitation, and hygiene in susceptible communities. The aim is to enable social distancing in these communities that are known about its overcrowding.

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud stated that “In these times of unprecedented crisis it is more important now than ever that we pull our resources together in the battle against Covid-19. With many developed nations struggling to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic, we must spare a thought for the developing countries of Africa and the less fortunate countries in the Middle East.”

The foundation has a long history of supporting and developing that reaches 40 years. Its mission is to bridge the gaps between different levels in societies, and it is committed to continually provide its support for those in need, especially at crisis times.
