YEMENI GOVERNMENT: IRAN’S WEAPONS IN YEMEN ARE A THREAT TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdul-Malik emphasized that Iranian weapons in the hands of the Houthis in Yemen constitute a threat to neighboring nations as well as international navigation.
He stated that Iran wishes to rule Marib as well as the entire country. He also said unequivocally that the re-establishment of the Shabwa, Al-Bayda, and Al-Dhalea axes benefits the Marib front. He went on to say that Iran supplies high-quality weaponry to the Houthi militia in their attacks against the regular army.
He verified the presence of a dramatic shift in the landscape of military operations against militias on many fronts.
He emphasized that Yemenis are tired of the disagreements that are delaying the conclusion of the country’s liberation from the Houthis.
He also stated unequivocally that the Riyadh Agreement is once-in-a-lifetime chance for changes in all sectors and for uniting ranks.
It is worth noting that Yemeni army troops have achieved significant headway in recent days on the Shabwa, Al-Bayda, and Al-Dhalea fronts in order to defend the Marib Governorate, which has been subjected to a Houthi onslaught for months.
Since last February (2021), Iranian-backed militias have waged a campaign to seize control of the oil-rich province, oblivious to the existence of millions of displaced civilians in refugee camps, despite international warnings and the UN constantly warning of the risks posed by Houthi attacks. However, despite tremendous battle from the army and tribesmen, it has failed to gain control of that region.
