
The night skies over the Northern Borders Region were illuminated by the Wolf Moon on Monday evening, marking the first supermoon of 2026. The rare astronomical event created a breathtaking display, capturing the attention of skywatchers and astronomy enthusiasts across the region.
Adnan Khalifa, a member of the Astronomy and Space Club, explained that the Wolf Moon refers to the first full moon of January. The name dates back to ancient traditions, when wolves were frequently heard howling during the cold winter months.
Khalifa noted that the clear skies over the Northern Borders Region offered ideal viewing conditions, allowing residents to fully enjoy the phenomenon. He encouraged the public to take advantage of such celestial events to raise astronomical awareness and inspire greater interest in space science within the community.
