The Emirati Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday a ban on its citizens traveling to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to Gulf News.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, targeting its leadership and triggering a new conflict in the Middle East.
Iran has been responding with a retaliatory counterattack in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi as a retaliatory move, while launching barrages of missiles and drones toward Israel.
The conflict has spread across the Middle East, leaving thousands dead, triggering unprecedented disruptions to energy supplies especially after the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
“In light of current regional developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announces a travel ban on UAE nationals travelling to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Lebanese Republic, and the Republic of Iraq,” state news agency WAM reported.
The ministry also urged all Emirati nationals currently in those countries to quicken their departure and return to the UAE without delay.
