US President Donald Trump blasted NATO allies after they refused his multinational naval mission to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Consequently, Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Australia, and Japan declined to commit warships to the proposed maritime operation.
Trump posted on Truth Social, “The United States has been informed by most of our NATO ‘Allies’ that they don’t want to get involved with our Military Operation against the Terrorist Regime of Iran.” He noted allies broadly agreed Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons yet hesitated to commit forces. Furthermore, he claimed US forces destroyed Iran’s navy, air force, radar systems, and killed its leaders. “Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer ‘need,’ or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID!” Trump asserted. He proclaimed American supremacy with emphasis: “WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE!”
UK Urges Swift De-escalation
Meanwhile, Britain warned Trump’s prolonged war heightens Middle East dangers significantly. Downing Street emphasized swift conflict resolution to protect global stability and economic security. The Prime Minister’s spokesman stated: “he’s very clear he wants to see an end to this war as quickly as possible because the longer it goes on the more dangerous the situation becomes.” Additionally, rising petrol prices and mortgage rates added £1,100 to average London home loans within two weeks.
Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, Commons Defence Committee chair, challenged Trump’s contradictory messaging directly. He told MPs: “After having insulted Great Britain for our response to not joining his war… President Donald Trump has now sent an SOS to the world including to the UK.” Notably, naval experts caution escort missions face severe Iranian drone threats daily. Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson dismissed Trump’s “Rolls-Royce” jab as mere “froth,” affirming: “Underneath the froth… we have a long and abiding and really deep and important relationship with our allies.”
Regional Violence Escalates Rapidly
As the conflict enters week three with over 2,000 deaths, Iran attacked the UAE Tuesday. Trump expressed surprise publicly: “They weren’t supposed to go after all these other countries in the Middle East.” However, US officials warned Iranian retaliation could strike American Gulf allies without warning. Meanwhile, Iran fired missiles at Israel overnight, demonstrating Tehran’s retained long-range strike capacity clearly. Additionally, rockets and drones targeted Baghdad’s US embassy in the war’s most intense assault yet.
