The US Fifth Fleet seizures a smuggled weapons boat in the Arabian Sea

On Saturday night, the US Fifth Fleet announced the seizure of a boat carrying smuggled weapons in the Arabian Sea. Advanced anti-armour, machine guns and handheld missiles are among the smuggled arms.

The total content included:

• Russian anti-tank cannons
• Thousands of Chinese Type 56 assault rifles
• Hundreds of PKM machine guns
• Machine guns
• Sniper rifles
• Rocket launchers

According to a statement released by the US Fifth Fleet, the capture and inspection took place over two days on 6 and 7 May as part of regular inspections conducted in compliance with international law.

The smuggled weapons shipment’s intended final destination is still under investigation.
