The Pentagon: There is no threat from Saudi military students in US
The Pentagon said recently that it had found no threat in its review of about 850 military students from Saudi Arabia currently studying in the United States, after a shooting by a Saudi trainee that killed three people at a base in Florida this month.
“We can say that there is no information indicating that any imminent threat has been discovered,” Garry Reid, director of defense intelligence, law enforcement and security, told a news briefing.
The result allows the US military to lift the ban on practical training and to prevent Saudi military pilots from flying, and return to study normally.
The FBI has said that US investigators believe that Muhammad Saeed Al-Shamrani, 21, acted alone when he attacked a US naval base in Pensacola, Florida on December 6, before a police officer killed him.
