The Taif Rose Festival in Saudi Arabia started yesterday in Al-Rudaf Park, reported Saudi Press Agency.
The Taif Rose Cooperative Society, in cooperation with Taif Municipality, organized the festival, which attracted a large number of visitors from the early hours.
The municipality made the largest carpet of flowers and roses of its kind as part of an initiative to support the festival. It stretches over an area of 5,206 square meters. 1,026,491 seedlings of various flowers and roses were used in weaving this million-dollar carpet, which was designed with decorative patterns inspired by the heritage and palaces of Taif Governorate. Thousands of visiting families took souvenir photos next to this giant carpet, which has become an attractive annual icon of the Rose Festival.
The Taif mayor, Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Zaidi, underscored the significance of the festival as one of the biggest events in Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the progress achieved to get the festival in its best light, praising the efforts of the municipality and all the relevant entities to organize Taif Rose Festival.
The Taif Rose, dubbed as “Sultan of flowers,” has long been a symbol of the city’s rich cultural heritage. Known for its breathtaking scent and beauty, Taif Rose has become a pillar of Taif’s tourism and trade sectors.
Taif, known as Saudi Arabia’s City of Roses, is the leading producer of these roses in the Kingdom, as its fertile lands yield a bounty of this exquisite flower all year round.
