Speaker of Shura Council Meets PM of Bangladesh
The Speaker of the Shura Council, Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, met in the capital, Dhaka today, the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wazed.
The Speaker of the Shura Council is officially visiting the Asian country, heading a Council’s delegation, reported Al Riyadh.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh welcomed the Speaker of the Shura Council and the accompanying delegation, wishing His Excellency and the accompanying delegation a pleasant stay. She noted the distinguished relations between Bangladesh and the Kingdom.
The Speaker of the Shura Council expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister for the good reception. He stressed that his visit comes as a continuation of the historical relations that bring the two countries together.
Earlier Meetings
Two weeks ago, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji met the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Bangladesh Muhammad Hasan, on the sidelines of the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister reviewed the ties of cooperation between the two countries and discussed ways to enhance and develop these ties in various fields.
Additionally, they discussed the latest regional and international developments as well as the efforts exerted in this regard, reported Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi-Bangladeshi Relations
In a recent significant development in international trade relations, Mubasher Al-Shahri, the Saudi Commercial Attaché at the General Authority of Foreign Trade in Pakistan, has played a pivotal role in fostering Saudi- Bangladeshi business relations.
This engagement was particularly notable during the visit of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih, to Bangladesh.
Role of General Authority for Foreign Trade
Established on January 1, 2019, Kingdom’s General Authority for Foreign Trade is key in Saudi-Bangladeshi economic ties. It also boosts the country’s global commercial and investment activities.
Moreover, it aids private sector participation in foreign trade. This reflects Saudi Arabia’s drive to diversify its economy, moving beyond oil and expanding its global trade presence.
