Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani and Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) CEO Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad attended the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the King Salman Al Saud Hospital in Mauritania. The project, funded through a $70 million grant from Saudi Arabia via the SFD, marks a major investment in the country’s healthcare sector.
The event was also attended by Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay, Health Minister Dr. Abdallah Sidi Mohamed Weddih, Economy and Finance Minister Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh, Saudi Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Raqabi, and several other officials.
The new 300-bed hospital is designed to strengthen healthcare services in the capital by offering a wide range of medical specialties and state-of-the-art facilities. Serving as a referral hub for 15 regional hospitals, it will also provide critical support to specialized medical institutions with limited capacity.
