SDAIA Unveils Multilingual Speech Recognition Solutions at International Conference in Greece

The Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) is participating in IEEE Interspeech 2024, held from August 31 to September 5 in Greece. The conference features AI experts and major global tech companies from around the world.

During the conference, “SDAIA” discussed code-switching (CS) within sentences, a common challenge for automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems. This topic is especially relevant for those studying comparative linguistic phenomena, given the limited data and the complexities of Arabic dialects. The discussion highlighted advancements in large language models (LLMs). This will enhance CS-ASR systems by generating text that switches between Arabic and English.

The International Conference on Speech Processing Technologies is a key global event in audio technologies. SDAIA leads in this field with its “Sawtak” system, developed in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, this system converts speech to text using voice recognition in Modern Standard Arabic, various Arabic dialects, and local languages. It can automate meeting transcriptions, develop chatbots, and build interactive voice systems.

The contribution of “SDAIA” to the conference comes through its sponsorship, in collaboration with SCAI, of the workshop (SyNDATA4GENAI 2024), which was co-organized by a number of experts. Finally, SDAIA is keen to enhance participation in such major events to highlight the importance of these advanced technologies and the progress that the Kingdom has achieved in this field.
