Saudis celebrate Founding Day under the slogan of “Youm Badina”

“Youm Badina” is the slogan for celebrating the anniversary of the Saudi founding day, which falls on the twenty-second of February of each year.

 

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal order in January of last year that February 22 of each year be a day to remember the establishment of the Saudi state, under the name (Incorporation Day), and it becomes an official holiday for all institutions and agencies operating in the Kingdom.

 

This date is considered one of the important dates, not only for the Saudi citizens inside and outside the Kingdom but also for the Gulf and the Arabs as a whole.

 

Establishment of the Saudi first state

The city of Diriyah is the starting point of the first Saudi state. The city was established in 1446 AD, when Mani’ al-Muraidi, the grandfather of the ruling family, came to the region, laying the first building block for the establishment of the state.

 

This city became an important crossing point for Hajj and trade as it convoys an important center for stability.

 

In the year 1727 AD, Imam Muhammad bin Saud assumed the rule of “Al-Diriyah” and declared the establishment of the first Saudi state, to begin a new phase in the history of the entire Arabian Peninsula.

 

He laid the brick of the great unity that united Most of its parts. It has become a source of pride for all the Arabs. The city of Diriyah has become the capital of a vast state, a source of economic, social, intellectual, and cultural attraction.

 

The Saudi state took care of Diriyah and made it a center for fighting ignorance and illiteracy, This aroused the wrath of the Ottoman state, which harnessed its energies to overthrow the Saudi state and areas adjacent to them.

 

Imam Turki bin Abdullah

After the fall of the first Saudi state, Imam Turki bin Abdullah, after continuous activity that lasted 7 years, was able to expel the Ottoman garrisons from Najd and liberate them.

 

He entered Riyadh in 1824 AD, to prove that the repeated campaigns of the Ottoman Empire against Najd did not succeed, laying a solid new building block of survival and steadfastness.

 

Imam Turki bin Abdullah was able to reunite most parts of the Arabian Peninsula in a record time, setting the most wonderful examples of courage and daring.

 

The second Saudi state continued on the same foundations on which the first Saudi state was built. It focused on maintaining security, education, and justice.

 

It adopts political openness to the world, as its leaders demonstrated the superior ability to communicate with many countries, establish good relations with them, and the second Saudi state continued to rule the region until 1891 AD.

King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman bin Faisal Al Saud

 

After about 10 years, King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman bin Faisal Al Saud was able, on the fifth of Shawwal 1319 AH – 1902 AD, to recover Riyadh and return his family to it, to start a new page from the pages of Saudi history.

 

This constituted a major turning point in the history of the region. It led to the establishment of a modern Saudi state, which was able to unite most parts of the Arabian Peninsula and achieve extensive civilizational achievements in all fields.

 

Unification of the country

On September 23, 1932 AD, King Abdul-Aziz announced the unification of the country under the name of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The unification of its vision is under the banner of Islam, after a historical epic that lasted about 30 years.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his trustworthy Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, assumed a great regional and international position, enjoyed solid global confidence, and witnessed achievements in various fields.
