The Saudi Embassy in USA welcomed the disclosure of secret documents related to the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001 (9/11).
It urged for the continued disclosure of all information connected to the assaults over the last two decades in a statement.
The Kingdom has also always called for transparency regarding the 9/11 tragedy.
“No evidence has ever surfaced to show that the Kingdom’s government had prior knowledge of the terrorist acts or were engaged in any manner of planning or implementation,” it added, citing past investigations.
“Any allegation that Saudi Arabia was complicit in the 9/11 attacks is baseless and false,” the statement continued.
It said that the Kingdom has condemned and denounced the atrocious crimes perpetrated against its ally and partner, the United States, as stated by the four previous US presidents.
The embassy added, “Saudi Arabia is well aware of the reality of the threats posed by Al-Qaeda through its ideology and terrorist actions.
“Saudi Arabia is proud of its record in combating terrorism, including measures to prevent terrorism financing and its comprehensive plan to battle extremist ideology and weaken and eliminate terrorist groups across our region,” it said.
