Saudi Mining Sector Achieves Milestone: 2,401 Licenses Issued in 2024

Saudi Arabia’s mining sector achieved a new milestone, as the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources revealed that 2,401 active mining licenses by 2024’s end. Covering diverse activities, the licenses span exploration, quarrying, and small-scale mining operations nationwide.

Breaking Down License Categories

Building materials quarries dominated with 1,481 permits, followed by exploration (642) and mining/small-scale operations (215). Reconnaissance and surplus mineral extraction accounted for 41 and 22 licenses, respectively.

The National Industrial and Mining Information Center’s 2024 bulletin highlights licensing trends and regional growth hotspots. Additionally, the report enhances transparency through real-time data, empowering stakeholders to align strategies with Vision 2030 goals.
