Saudi Islamic Affairs Pavilion Steals Show at Cairo Book Fair with Hajj VR Technology
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance is currently participating in the Kingdom’s pavilion at the 56th Cairo International Book Fair from Jan 23 to Feb 5.
In remarks to Leaders MENA Magazine, an official from King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex (KFGQPC) in Medina, stated that the pavilion is witnessing increasing turnout from various countries around the world.
Warm Welcome
The official underscored Egypt’s generous hospitality and warm welcome to the Saudi participation at the fair which deeply reflect the longstanding cultural ties between the Kingdom and Egypt.
“The Egyptian people are kind, and we are delighted to be here,” the official told Leaders MENA Magazine.
Detailed Tour
In a comprehensive tour, the official explained in detail the stages of printing the Noble Quran and the raw materials used in each stage.
He revealed that the initial stages include the selection of appropriate papers and suitable covers for each Musḥaf. “The cover consists of fabric and cardboard, combined together through an adhesive substance,” he added.
Several Types of Musḥafs
Interestingly, the KFGQPC’s pavilion boasts various types of Musḥafs including Muṣḥaf Mumtaz, Muṣḥaf Khass, Standard Muṣḥaf, Pocket Musḥaf, as well as Nastaleeq Muṣḥaf.
In this context, he noted that the pavilion has captured the attention of several visitors through the different copies, colors, sized of Musḥafs.
From Large-sized Muṣḥaf and Medium-sized Muṣḥaf to Hand-sized one, the complex’s pavilion stands as a testament to KFGQPC’s dedication to showcasing the Kingdom’s efforts in printing and publishing the Noble Quran. “The pavilion displays 76 non-Arabic versions of the Noble Quran,” he added.
In addition to Muṣḥafs, the pavilion showcases rare historical manuscripts boasting qur’anic texts, literary poems and others.
Digital Services
The supervisor of the Ministry’s pavilion stated that KFGQPC’s participation at the fair sets an exceptional role model for digital progress and dedication to offering seamless experiences for visitors and pilgrims.
The supervisor noted that the ministry is showcasing its electronic applications through smart devices at its booth at the fair. Therefore, it offers an exclusive opportunity for visitors to experience Hajj and Umrah virtually using 3D technology.
Rushd App
The pavilion features the “Rushd” app, which provides several services such as an electronic copy of KFGQPC’s Muṣḥaf, prayer times, Qibla direction, educational resources for pilgrims, as well as a communication service with the ministry.
Correct Citation App
He also added that the pavilion highlights another application called the “Correct Citation,” that enables users to search through the texts of the Noble Quran and the Hadiths.
“Through the “Correct Citation” app, users can read several translations or interpretations of Quran verses,” he told Leaders MENA Magazine.
Hajj and Umrah Education App
He also indicated that the app aims basically to showcase the rituals of Hajj and Umrah in an educational way through multilingual three-dimensional (3D) virtual-reality (VR) technology.
Accordingly, it serves as a valuable opportunity and comprehensive guide for pilgrims to avoid committing any mistakes in their spiritual journeys.
“The VR technology provides visitors with a virtual tour that simulates a real visit to the Grand Mosque and the holy sites of Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah,” he added.
