SAUDI FUEL GRANT TO YEMEN AMOUNTING TO $ 422 MILLION
The Yemeni authorities in the port of Aden received (Saturday) the seventh batch of the Saudi fuel grant, amounting to about $ 422 million, which was allocated by Saudi Arabia to support the Yemeni government and alleviate the suffering of the population in the liberated areas, under the supervision of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen.
According to Yemeni official sources, the total value of the quantities received from the Saudi oil grant to operate power stations in the liberated governorates amounted to about $312 million, with the donor paying 72 percent and the government 28 percent.
The sources stated recently at the oil port in the temporary capital of Aden, the seventh batch of the Saudi oil grant, amounting to 60,000 metric tons of diesel, was received, while it is scheduled to arrive at the same port, during the next few days, a quantity of 30,000 tons Metric of diesel, to complete the arrival of the seventh batch.
In this context, the Director of the SDRPY for Yemen in Aden, Engineer Ahmed Madkhali, referred to the contribution of the Saudi grant, since its inception in May of the last year 2021, to operating more than 65 electrical stations and improving electrical energy production.
Madkhali indicated that more than 1,960 gigawatts of electrical energy were produced until the end of last December, and the losses in produced energy decreased by 12 percent, and the energy produced increased by 17 percent for the last year 2021, compared to the same period the previous year.
Also, transmitted energy increased by 12 percent, as well as electricity sales by 13 percent, the average operating hours of electricity increased to more than 20 hours in some governorates, and the average operation of electricity in Aden increased by 20 percent.
