The Saudi documentary film “Horizon” won the famous Hermes International Creative Award in the platinum category, for its promotional launch campaign, after facing competition from many international works.
The film “Horizon” increases awareness of environmental diversity in Saudi Arabia, and defines the unique geographical regions, and the efforts made to protect wildlife and preserve rare species therein, as well as introducing the world to its various treasures, by showing the picturesque nature, which is full of diverse plant and animal life, and raising awareness. All depicts the richness of the Kingdom’s land.
The film, produced by the “Konoz” initiative of the Ministry of Information in partnership with the National Center for Wildlife Development, shows a variety of wild creatures, such as the dugong or mermaid, dolphins, the graceful Arabian leopard, and species of deer and oryx. Saudi Arabia is keen to pay attention to the environmental sector as it is one of the programs and goals of Vision 2030. The Kingdom also enacts strict regulations to protect it under supervision National Center for Wildlife.
Konoz initiative
The film showcases Saudi Arabia’s diverse wildlife, featuring over 10,000 unique creatures adapted to their environments. Filming spanned over 200 days, involving a specialized crew of 50 who traveled over 4,700 km across 28 locations. Additionally, 13 Saudi wildlife researchers contributed to the “Konoz” initiative, part of the Human Capacity Development Program aimed at realizing Vision 2030. It visually documents the Kingdom’s treasures and fosters artistic innovation in production.
“Konoz” presented a number of documentary works such as: “Alike,” “Chapter 295,” “Nawras al-Arab,” “What the Saudis Eat,” “Atlas of Saudi Arabia,” and other works. It is noteworthy that the “Hermes” Prize has witnessed more than 325,000 entries since its establishment. Participation from 135 countries.
It is an American international award, launched 27 years ago, and is considered one of the oldest and largest international creative competitions. Every year, the most distinguished entries from individuals and media organizations are honored for their excellence in marketing and creativity.
