Saudi Crown Prince, US National Security Advisor Discuss Increasing Aid to Gaza
The White House said in a statement on Thursday that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Riyadh, according to Al Arabiya. They discussed ongoing efforts to achieve a lasting and sustainable peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
The White House added that the Crown Prince and the US official also discussed “efforts to increase the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
The statement confirmed that the two sides discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of security, trade, space exploration and advanced technologies.
The US National Security Advisor is also visiting Israel today. He is set to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, and others. His visit comes while the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas is witnessing a new day of escalation and violent fighting.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Benny Gantz, Minister of the Defense Council, are also among the officials whom Sullivan will meet.
US President Joe Biden had said earlier that his National Security Advisor would travel to Israel this week. This is with a view to hold talks with the Israeli war government regarding the conflict in Gaza.
Biden added that Sullivan will emphasize the United States’ commitment to Israel. He will also stress the need to protect the lives of civilians in Gaza, reported Almasry Alyoum. He also noted that the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will also travel to the region.
