Saudi Arabia to combat desertification with the latest technologies

The National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification in Saudi Arabia, under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, will organize next (Sunday) at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, the international exhibition and forum for afforestation techniques in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Water agriculture. 

A group of government agencies, the private sector, environmental associations, and international bodies and organizations will participate in the exhibition and the international forum for afforestation techniques, in addition to more than 90 speakers of experts and those interested in the environmental field and climate issues from about 20 countries and international organizations. 

The exhibition and the forum included more than 20 dialogue sessions and scientific workshops, during which about 50 scientific papers were presented, and about 80 exhibitors participated in their products, projects and innovations, which represent the latest developments in the world of technology, combating desertification, mitigating its effects, and promoting plants and scientific studies. 

Combating Desertification Forum

The exhibition and forum aims to contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals of the UN, evaluating and reviewing the most important research, studies and techniques in the field of afforestation and combating desertification 

The forum will bring global expertise closer, identify globally applied success models, corporate leaders, decision makers, technology solution providers and green industry leaders concerned with climate and environmental issues. 

During the dialogue sessions and scientific workshops at the exhibition and forum, the participants will address a number of topics, most notably; the role of the private and non-profit sectors and the charitable endowment in the development of vegetation cover, modern techniques and means for effective nursery management and seed banks to support vegetation development projects, in addition to environmental initiatives within the Green Saudi Initiative, and the strategic plan for sustainable afforestation in the Kingdom, 

It will also contain the role of natural reserves in the development of vegetation cover, carbon storage in mangrove forests and trees and shrubs prevalent in the Arabian Peninsula, techniques for estimating the efficiency of plants in carbon fixation, investment in parks and natural reserves, the role of environmental associations in developing vegetation cover and combating desertification.
