Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation Launches Athar Platform

The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation has launched the Athar electronic platform, reported Saudi Press Agency.

Athar serves as a unified database for governing organ donation and transplantation in the Kingdom.

How Is the Platform Useful?

This platform digitizes the processes of donation and the organ supply chain.

Moreover, it harnesses artificial intelligence for tissue typing between donors and potential recipients; it also calculates performance indicators for the journey of donation and organ transplantation.

The General Director of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation  Talal Al-Qoufi explained that this platform is part of the Center’s diligent efforts to manage and improve the processes of organ donation and transplantation, providing value-added services.

Through launching this platform, the Center aims to implement it in all organ transplantation health facilities.

Platform’s Merits

This initiative contributes to increasing the number of donors and organ transplantations, thus ending the suffering of many patients with organ failure.

The platform would further maximize the benefits from every donation case, and improve the quality of the donation and transplantation procedures.
