Saudi Arabia to Participate in Venice International Film Festival 2024
The Saudi Film Commission will participate in the 81st edition of the Venice International Film Festival, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Venice International Film Festival, one of the world’s oldest and most significant film festivals, will take place from August 28 to September 7, 2024 in Venice, Italy. It is part of the Venice Biennale, and is recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
Through its participation, the Saudi Film Commission aims to establish the Kingdom’s status as a global hub for film industry, strengthen international relations, and highlight Saudi cultural and cinematic richness.
Furthermore, it aims to enhance the presence of the Saudi film sector in international forums, and showcase the Commission’s archival efforts, emphasizing the importance of the National Film Archive.
The participation of the Saudi Film Commission features organizing a roundtable event, titled “Challenges Facing Modern and Emerging Archives.” The Commission’s archive management team will discuss these challenges in an enriching discussion, with the presence of partners from the Saudi film industry to foster cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.
The participation in the Venice International Film Festival 2024 comes in line with the Saudi Film Commission’s participation in international film forums, aiming to contribute to developing the Saudi cinematic landscape, enabling Saudi talents, and exchanging expertise and opinions, to further consolidate the Kingdom’s presence on the global cinematic map.
The Venice International Film Festival 2024 aims to raise awareness and promote all forms of cinema, including art, entertainment and industry. It dedicates one section to enhancing the restorations of classic films as a way to bolster the understanding of cinema history, especially for the young audiences.
