Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has successfully concluded the first-ever Esports World Cup (EWC) after 8 weeks of competitions and activities, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Crown Prince crowned the Saudi club “Team Falcons” as champions of the EWC 2024, with a total prize pool of $7 million.

Team Falcons achieved remarkable success securing 5,665 points across 12 tournaments, achieving first place in both the “Call of Duty: Warzone” and “Free Fire” championships.

This outstanding accomplishment stands as a testament to the Kingdom’s extraordinary national talent in the esports sector.

Held from July 3 till August 25 at the Riyadh Boulevard City, the EWC marked the largest prize pool in Esports history with more than $60 million.

This historic prize pool stands as a living proof of the Esport World Cup Foundation‘s pursuit to flourish the global esports industry while providing more sustainable career options for athletes and clubs.

EWC basically aimed at increasing the gaming sector’s contribution to Saudi Arabia’s GDP by more than $ 13.3 billion and boosting its position as a pioneering hub for hosting worldwide prestigious events.

In 2023, Saudi launched ‘The National Gaming and Esports Strategy (NGES) to foster the Kingdom’s status as a center of the competitive gaming world by 2030.

“The competition will enhance our progress towards realizing the Vision 2030 objectives of diversifying the economy, growing the tourism sector, creating new jobs in various industries, and providing world-class entertainment for citizens, residents, and visitors alike,” Saudi Crown Prince Mohamad bin Salman said.

Last year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz established the Esports World Cup Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims at opening a new era of collaboration between esports stakeholders and enhancing the sector’s sustainability.
