Saudi Arabia Stresses Importance of Strait of Hormuz, Calls for Global Protection at UN

Saudi Arabia underscored the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz during remarks at the United Nations, urging stronger global efforts to protect freedom of navigation.
Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Abdulaziz Alwasil, stated that the strait remains one of the world’s most critical routes for international trade and energy security. Alwasil highlighted the serious humanitarian and economic consequences of such disruptions, noting their potential impact on the delivery of essential goods, medical supplies, and aid. He also stressed the importance of maintaining maritime security and ensuring uninterrupted trade flows in line with international law.
He also called for coordinated international efforts to ease tensions and prevent further escalation, emphasizing that such actions are vital for maintaining both regional and global stability.
In closing, Alwasil reaffirmed the need for stronger international cooperation to protect key maritime routes and uphold the principles of peace and security worldwide.
