Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) is participating as a strategic partner in the Geospatial World Forum, from May 13 to 16, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The four-day forum, themed “Geospatial Transition: Powering the World Economy,” is bringing together more than 300 specialized speakers and more than 55 pavilions showcasing the latest geospatial technologies and developments.
The gathering also serves as a platform to exchange views, visions, and expertise and reveal the innovative solutions and technologies emerged from the geospatial information field.
During the opening session, GEOSA President Mohammed Al-Sayel, confirmed that the Saudi economy is on a fast track to achieve unprecedented growth, highlighting the significance of geospatial information in decision-making and fostering the geospatial infrastructure.
The Kingdom’s pavilion has showcased the Saudi national geospatial infrastructure and addressed the most notable projects and programs.
Themed “Geospatial Transition Driving Economic Value in Various Sectors,” the session commenced by GEOSA spokesperson Fatma Al-Shammari’s speech, in which she shed light on the Kingdom’s significant transition in several sectors, with prestigious projects supported by the Saudi advanced geospatial technologies.
Al-Sayel also underscored the ongoing cooperation between GEOSA and the World Bank to conduct studies on the economic impact of geospatial information in the Kingdom.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the Kingdom has exerted a lot of efforts to develop the geospatial information management globally through hosting the UN Global Geospatial Ecosystem Center of Excellence in Riyadh. The center provides a valuable opportunity for experts and specialists to share knowledge and awareness in the geospatial information sphere.
