Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel has boosted the Saudi-Chinese health cooperation during his official visit to Shenzhen, China.

The Minister has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with leading Chinese companies, BGI Group and Huawei.

Significant Partnerships

Signed between the Saudi National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO) and Chinese healthcare giant BGI Group, the partnerships aim to improve the Kingdom’s healthcare sector.

The first MoU centers around leveraging BGI Group’s expertise to bolster the healthcare system across the Kingdom.

In the light of this, the agreement features several plans to localize population health assurance services and foster preventive healthcare applications.

Moreover, it facilitates the exploration of direct partnerships in the health supply chain.

To further strengthen healthcare infrastructure, the second MoU stresses the development of integrated logistics services for biological samples.

Therefore, the partnership also elevates the efficiency of biological data handling in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi-Chinese Cooperation

Al-Jalajel underscored that the Saudi-Chinese agreements perfectly align with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program.

Furthermore, they strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for digital health and innovation.

He also mentioned that the collaboration with BGI mirrors the Kingdom’s keenness to capture strategic partnerships that address global health challenges and secure a healthier future for coming generations.
