Saudi Arabia Renews Condemnation of Iranian Attacks, Warns of Impact on Ties
Saudi Arabia has renewed its absolute condemnation of the heinous Iranian attacks against the Kingdom, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and several Arab and friendly countries, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
Noting that this aggression is “unacceptable and unjustifiable under any circumstances,” Saudi Arabia reiterated its full right to take all the necessary measures to safeguard its security, sovereignty the safety of its citizens and residents and deter the aggression.
According to the statement, attacking civilian facilities, airports and oil installations shows nothing but a determination to threaten security and stability and a blatant violation of international conventions and international law.
Furthermore, the statement disputed Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent remarks, in which he claimed that Iran had no plans to attack neighboring countries.
“The Kingdom affirms that the Iranian side has not implemented that declaration on the ground, either during the president’s speech or afterward, and has continued its attacks based on baseless pretexts,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.
The statement added that the Kingdom has previously refuted allegations regarding the deployment of fighter jets and tanker aircraft from its territory to participate in the war.
“In fact, those aircraft are conducting defensive patrols to monitor and protect the airspace of Saudi Arabia and GCC states from Iranian missiles and drones,” the statement clarified.
Importantly, the statement warned that ongoing Iranian aggressions signal further escalation, which will have a profound impact on current and future relations.
“Iran’s current actions toward our countries do not prioritize wisdom or a genuine interest in avoiding a broader escalation, in which Tehran itself would be the ultimate loser,” the statement noted.
