Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed a significant agreement focused on the publication and translation of the holy Quran. This collaboration highlights the commitment of both nations to promote Islamic texts globally. The agreement underscores efforts to enhance religious understanding and accessibility among Muslim populations.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs. This agreement aims for cooperation in various aspects related to the holy Quran, which include publication, translation, and educational initiatives. The signing took place in Riyadh, confirmed by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs on its social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).

The agreement involves training preachers and imams, ensuring they are well-equipped to spread Islamic teachings effectively. Additionally, both countries will collaborate in the construction of mosques, further enhancing religious infrastructure. Bilateral Trade Enhancements
In a complementary move, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan also established a customs cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing bilateral trade. This agreement was signed during the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Conference held in Riyadh. By streamlining customs and administrative processes, both nations can benefit from each other’s experiences and facilitate smoother trade operations.
The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Conference featured over 70 workshops and negotiation sessions, with participation from nearly 90 local and international institutions. Such gatherings foster discussions that lead to actionable agreements and strengthen economic ties. The collaborative environment encourages knowledge sharing and innovation in trade practices.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar emphasized the importance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s meeting with Saudi officials. According to Tarar, the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is becoming increasingly robust. He highlighted the prospect of substantial Saudi investments in Pakistan as a positive outcome of enhanced diplomatic discussions.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Minister Tarar noted the Prime Minister’s productive visit to Saudi Arabia. This visit marked a significant milestone, establishing stronger bilateral ties between both nations. Tarar emphasized the effectiveness of the agreements reached, which are based on close cooperation and mutual trust.
Future Economic Priorities
The Information Minister pointed out that promoting investments from Saudi Arabia remains a priority for the Pakistani government. Enhancing economic cooperation will drive growth and prosperity for both nations. Tarar also mentioned that effective policies have led to improvements in Pakistan’s economy, with inflation reaching its lowest in six years.
The agreement on Quran publication and translation and the customs cooperation signify a promising future for Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.
