Saudi Arabia Launches Historic “Khaybar, Tayma” Oases
New activities have begun today in the historic oases of Khaybar and Tayma for the second consecutive year.
These activities encompass a range of tourism and heritage experiences, offering visitors a journey through time to explore the cultural and historical heritage of the oases in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, amid stunning natural scenery and breathtaking terrains.
Event Duration
The events will be held from November until early 2024. It will allow visitors to delve into valuable cultural, heritage, and natural treasures that date back to ancient civilizations established thousands of years ago, especially in the oasis of Khaybar.
Khaybar Oasis Activities
Khaybar Oasis has launched its events today, continuing until March 9, 2024. Visitors can enjoy diverse tours guided by a tourism guide to explore the heritage of Khaybar Oasis through six historical sites including Al-Rawan View, Manifa Village, and the historic Al-Nazar Fort.
The tour lasts 2-3 hours at a cost of 95 Saudi Riyals, with booking available online.
There are also musical performances and traditional dance shows, along with a special show called “Sound of the Oasis.”
Tayma Oasis Significance
Tayma Oasis, known as the Land of Kings, holds significant importance alongside AlUla Oasis due to its rich historical and cultural heritage.
Tayma played a strategic role as a trading station on the Incense Road and the road leading to the Babylonian civilization. It was also the residence of the famous Babylonian king, Nabonidus.
Tayma Oasis Exploration
Visitors to Tayma Oasis can explore key archaeological sites like the ancient Temple of Salm, Haddaj Well, Al-Najem Market, Al-Radhm Palace, Al-Talq Palace, and Ibn Al-Rumman Palace, in addition to enjoying heritage and musical performances, and immersive experiences in a journey to the elegance of the past.
Various Activities Between Khaybar, Tayma
Activities between Khaybar and Tayma vary, with Tayma offering daily Bedouin camp experiences continuing until March 1, 2024.
Visitors can use the Tayma Heritage Tour card to visit the Bedouin camp, enjoy a cultural entertainment experience, and learn about the daily life of the desert people in the past, along with authentic Arab hospitality.
Unique Offerings
Among the unique offerings is the “March of King Nabonidus,” which portrays the rich history of the “Land of Kings,” allowing visitors to explore the region’s rich heritage in a vibrant, artistic, and colorful environment celebrating Tayma’s history.
The newly launched activities in Khaybar and Tayma Oases provide a rich blend of historical, cultural, and natural explorations, encouraging visitors to delve into the ancient past of these regions in Saudi Arabia. The events will stretch into early 2024, offering a wide array of experiences and explorations.
