Saudi Arabia Launches Automated Monitoring Vehicle for the First Time in Hajj 2024
The Saudi Transport General Authority has unveiled the automated monitoring vehicle to be used for the first time during Hajj 2024, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The authority has launched the new vehicle to monitor all transportation vehicles in Mecca, Madinah, and other holy sites and make sure of their compliance with Saudi high standards and quality.
The automated vehicle basically uses mobile surveillance cameras to provide accurate identification for the type and data of various vehicles such as buses, taxis, and trucks.
Developed through integrated national efforts, the new technology will maintain pilgrims’ security and safety in all transportation means during this Hajj season.
Saudi Arabia has embarked on a wide range of preparations aimed at providing the pilgrims with smooth and comfortable journey.
During this season, it offers a special system using GPS and interactive digital maps to help pilgrims move around the holy sites.
The digital interactive map shows directions to all the facilities provided by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. They include doors, the library, restrooms, guidance offices, and the service of providing manual and electric carts, escalators, elevators, field hospitals, bridges, and maintenance and work areas.
Furthermore, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MoHU) has collaborated with the Saudi National Bank (SNB AlAhli) to launch the world’s first international digital wallet ‘Nusuk Wallet’ to serve pilgrims. Nusuk Wallet will enable Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to manage their money and expenses through a banking infrastructure supported by SNB AlAhli.
