Saudi Arabia, Italy Strengthen Defense Ties in Rome Meeting

The meeting, held at Palazzo Madama, saw both ministers discuss prospects for enhancing defense collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Italy. They explored ways to strengthen these ties, aligned with the aspirations of both nations’ leaderships. Official Reception in Rome

Prince Khalid received an official reception in Rome, where the national anthems of both nations played, followed by an honor guard display. The Saudi delegation, including the Saudi Ambassador to Italy Prince Faisal bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz, exchanged greetings with their Italian counterparts. Following the reception, Crosetto hosted a luncheon in honor of the Saudi minister.

Focus on Regional and Global Issues

The discussions also covered the latest developments in the region and global matters of mutual concern. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in light of these developments. The two ministers highlighted the importance of addressing shared challenges through collaboration in defense and other strategic areas.

High-Level Attendees

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries. From the Saudi side, key figures included Chief of General Staff General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, Assistant Minister of Defense Khalid Biyari, and other high-ranking military officials. Chief of Defense Staff Lt. Gen. Luciano Portolano and other senior defense officials represented Italy.

The visit, Prince Khalid’s first official trip to Rome as defense minister, underscored the strong and growing partnership between Saudi Arabia and Italy in defense and security.
