Saudi Arabia Honors Drone Racing World Cup Champions
The Drone Racing World Cup, held in Riyadh under the sponsorship of Riyadh Season and organized by the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones in partnership with the World Air Sports Federation, concluded today. The event attracted more than 140 pilots from around the globe.
On the final day of the competition, 64 racers advanced to the finals, with the top three positions awarded as follows: South Korean pilot Minchan Kim clinched first place, earning the title of Drone Racing World Cup champion and a prize of SAR 375,000. French pilot Killian Rousseau secured second place, taking home SAR 285,000, while Joaquin Ybanez from the United States claimed third place, winning SAR 185,000.
The Riyadh edition of the Drone Racing World Cup was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest in terms of participating countries, with competitors representing over 50 nations. Visitors and attendees also had the chance to win valuable prizes through raffles held during the event.
Notably, the Drone Racing has been an annual event since 2016. This year’s edition, hosted by Saudi Arabia, marks the first time the competition has been held in the Middle East and North Africa, further solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a hub for global sporting events.
